Note: Some features of the System UI Tuner are broken (such as hiding certain icons), there is nothing that I can do to correct this, as it is part of the Android system.

Third-party manufacturers may chose to disable this menu completely in their custom builds (Motorola, Samsung, etc.), I have no control over this. Sadly with Sonys Android 7.1 update the option to not show the icon has gone from the system UI tuner. To use it, you’ll need to be on Android Marshmallow or higher. This will work on all stock AOSP and Pixel builds of Android 9+. The System UI Tuner houses a ton of little options that can make your phone nicer to use. One such built-in customization option that users have loved since the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been the System UI Tuner menu. Android OS has been at the forefront of customization for over a decade now, allowing you to tweak every inch of the phone the way you prefer. Quickly launch System UI Tuner on Android 9 Pie with this app. This works the same as Google's own method of launching the UI Tuner in previous Android versions. However, after some digging by the geeks in the Android community, it was discovered that the System UI Tuner does exist on Android 9 Pie, but it is simply hidden from of the view of the users.

This application is simply a shortcut to launch the hidden System UI Tuner menu without the need to use ADB or install a custom launcher. However, the release of Android 9 Pie seemed to have removed the ability of users to access the System UI Tuner. System UI Tuner is hidden in this new version of Android.
The option to launch System UI Tuner in Android version 9 and newer has been removed by Google, but the utility does still exist. The eighth version of the Android operating system, Android Oreo was released in 2017 with a lot of new features. First introduced in Android Marshmallow, Google included a hidden menu with experimental options called System UI Tuner.
